The Roger Williams
Victorian Rose Garden was restored and replanted in Spring 1999. The original Victorian woodwork
of the gazebo and arches was repaired and repainted. A cobblestone raised
bed was designed by noted garden designer, Chuck Carberry. There is a brief history of the rose gardens of Roger Williams Park from the Park's Museum Archives and a list of the roses that were in the park circa 1936 |

| One special area in the garden is the Brownell bed. Dr and Mrs. Brownell were famous Rhode Island rose breeders noted for their work in hybridizing very winter hardy roses. One of our members, the granddaughter of the Brownells, Dorrie Nichols, has access to some of these hard to find varieties. Click here for HelpMeFind.com's list of varieties bred by the Brownells, with information on each. | ||
