You've had the chance now to look at our website at
http://www.rirs.org] and put it on your favorites or bookmark list . Let's go over some of the choices from the menu bar on the left of your screen.
MAIN PAGE: Clicking the rose society logo on the left menu from any page will get you back to our introductory page. This page tells you what's new on the site, describes the content of our meetings past and planned, and shows how many people have visited the site.
CONSULTING ROSARIAN: As our only consulting rosarian with an e-mail address so far, Mike Chute is has agreed to answer rose questions through email for members and others visiting our website.
ROSE FORUM: This forum is a place where you can post questions, observations and comments that anyone visiting the site can answer, or add their own comments to. For example, suppose you're interested in ordering a certain rose. You could ask for local feedback on how well that rose does in New England.
SIGN GUESTBOOK: Mainly for visitors, it allows comments on the website and also makes the visitor's email address available for correspondence if desired.
LOOK AT GUESTBOOK: Use this button to see who has been visiting the site.
LINKS: One of the most useful pages. It lists societies, rose nurseries, educational sites, photo sites that you can visit by clicking on their name. Click the BACK button on your browser to return to the link page after seeing a site. At the bottom of this page, I have some of the best search engines listed. Use these to find more rose sites or other info by typing in one or more keywords when you arrive at the search engine site. This can be a confusing and complex subject since each search engine is quite different and gives you different results. More on this later.
JOIN: This page not only gives info on joining our club, but also lists our officers and their e-mail addresses and phone numbers.
PHOTOS: A collection of rose photos from our members. Click on the name of the photo you want, then after viewing it, click the BACK (left arrow) button on your browser. We need more photos: rose closeups, trellises, garden layouts, rose meeting photos.
T-SHIRT: Some ideas and basic instructions on printing rose photos, logos or other designs on t-shirts.
My next installment will have detailed information on using the different search engines to their full potential.
