Rhode Island Rose Society Meeting

 

March 10, 2018 : The slots for the 20th Anniversary Luncheon are rapidly filling. The anniversary program includes an awards presentation and the best hot buffet anywhere followed by our guest speaker, Mike Schwartz. Mike's PowerPoint program describes his American Rose Trials for Sustainability (ARTS) and the North East Earth Kind trials he's running in Connecticut.

 

The lunch is 12 to 4 at Chelos Bar and Grill at 911 Warren Ave, East Providence, RI NOT the one on Newport Ave

 

April 14: Tockwotten on the Water at 500 Waterfront Drive

June 16: Kaleidoscope of Colors: 20th Aniversary Rose show at Cold Springs Community Center in  Wickford

 

July 14:

August 11: Garden Party at Frank and Charlotte's house. BYOB, bring finger food,  bring your own chairs. Time 2-5

Friday, Sept 7th - Boat ride - $25 person. SORRY - BOAT FULL!

Followed by dinner "We have a change to the after boat ride dinner.  It is going to be at the Barnstable Restaurant &Tavern, which is located at 3176Main St. Barnstable.  Mattakeese was not able to fulfill our final number this year.  It is a two minute walk from the Eco Tour parking lot. " Please let me know if you will attend the dinner, we have to make reservations for everyone!

Entries accepted 7:30 - 10 AM. Open to public after judging has ended, awards at 2:45PM


LOBSTERFEST - Greys Beach, Yarmouthport, MA (Bass Hole) begin gathering 5:30 –

Lobster, steak tips or Statler (free range) chicken $40
(chowder, steamers/mussels, linguica, red bliss potatoes, corn on the cob, cole slaw and watermelon.) Special diet requests - email me (caperose@gmail.com)and I will call the restaurant with your request.

Sunday, September 9th - 10AM - Yankee District Business meeting, at Cindy & Irwin Ehrenreich’s house, 3780 Main St (6A) Barnstable, MA followed by an extraordinary opportunity to save many roses not in commerce any longer. Irwin & Cindy have generously offered members of the Yankee District cuttings of their roses. We will have rooting hormone, soil and containers so you can easily bring your “prepared” cuttings home safely.
