SHARING DAYLILY EXPERIENCES (I would like a section dedicated to this each
month this next year)
Each member is asked to bring in a list of their 5 favorite daylilies under
$10. Please bring in pictures and complete descriptions. Tell us WHY you
think your particular daylily choice is one that you would recommend to any
daylily collector, and especially one which should be included for new
members and garden enthusiasts just starting out seeking new daylilies. PICS
would be most appropriate. WHO CAN RESIST A GORGEOUS PIC?
For each member that brings in their list, with pics, and ONE double fan +
"donation card" of one of their favorites, which can be distributed as a
DOORPRIZE or GIFT to a new member, you get ONE PIDS PAYOLA BUCK!
TRADES- At the Feb meeting it was enthusiastically accepted that our members
would like to TRADE PLANTS.
Time to start thinking about what you might have to trade with other PDS
members in April/May. Patsy has offered to start a list on the PDS WEBSITE
under the security section. Your list of HAVES and list of WANTS, with all
info of cultivar included (to make things easy for Patsy) should be sent to
her and will be posted at the beginning of April. AND you should bring in
your list at the APRIL MEETING and display it on a TRADE TABLE. Time will be
set aside to make your trades. The more you share, the more you get!
And a special thanks to Gary Jones, Reg 4 RVP; Mary Collier Fisher, Reg 4
Director; Patsy Cunningham, Kate Reed, and Ellen Laprise, for making our Feb
meeting so special, from all of us at PDS.
DOES ANYONE IN OUR GROUP HAVE A GOOD DIGITAL CAMCORDER THAT CAN BE USED DURING ANY OF OUR MEETINGS?
DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS FOR WHAT THEY CAN OFFER FOR A PRESENTATION AT OUR MEETINGS?
DOES ANYONE HAVE SUGGESTIONS HOW TO INCLUDE OTHER GARDENING GROUPS ATTENDING OUR MEETINGS?
Let BB know. lilylady@adelphia.net

Bus Ride to Nationals
I am forwarding an email from John Randall of HADS. He is organizing
the HADS bus to the LIDS AHS National next summer. Some of you up
Vermont way, or western MA, might consider traveling to LI on the HADS
bus. Contact John Randall at
jaran@nycap.rr.com
Here is John's email:
Hello Gary, We have rented a 55 seat bus and 40 of our members have
signed on for the convention. We will leave from Crossgates Mall around
7:30am on Thursday the 13th of July. Our plan is to visit 2 open gardens
on the way down and 2 more on the way home. we will leave Sunday am
around 8:30.
I doubt if all 55 seats will be filled by our club: so, if you are
interested in riding with us, drop me an e-mail.

Hi gang,
Well the e-mails have started to come in asking when the next
Canadian-American Daylily Meeting is, so I finally took some time and built
the WebPages for all to see.
The WebPages are almost complete, I have pictures of all but one of the
speakers that will be entertaining you this year. The hotel rates are
listed, please be advised that the 7% General Sales Tax is fully refundable
to non-residents of Canada!
Once again we have FABULOUS line up of speakers [including George Doorakian- webmaster's note],
check them out, all with smiles at:
http://www.distinctly.on.ca/can_am/
For those who are members of the Canadian Hemerocallis Society or anyone
else interested, I am also updating the Canadian Hemerocallis Society
WebPages, most updates have been completed on the main page and the
sub-pages will be done over the next couple of days.
Have a great day!

Our next Region 4 Business Meeting will be held at the next Ontario Daylily
Society-sponsored Can-Am Classic April 21-23, 2006.
Therefore the 2006 Can-Am Classic will be billed as the Region 4 Can-Am
Classic.
ODS has kindly offered to host the event as a Region 4 Regional Meeting, and
a portion of the proceeds of the auction will support the Region 4
operating budget. This may help us compensate for the loss of revenue due
to the AHS Long Island National, and will be serving as our Summer Regional.
The event will be held in Burlington, Ontario. We hope that you can make
plans to attend and support Region 4. Another notice will follow
highlighting the weekend events.
8/30/05: We have our own
Patriot Daylily Society
bulletin board now, where you can discuss, announce, question, sell,
buy or? (previous one deleted due to security issues with the program)
11/6:Our new web address will be
patriotdaylilysociety.org,
however the old one at members.cox.net/patriotdaylilysociety will
still link
New additions to the
Member's Intros page: Nick Chase and Jerry Deschesnes
All members please feel free to email me your list of favorite
daylilies. If you have a photo as well that would be great. Tell
us why its a good one. See Members'
Favorites page.

John R. Pike
George Doorakian has decided to name this beautiful introduction
in memory of John R. Pike, a member of the
Patriot Daylily Society who passed away in early August 03. John had
pointed out this seedling as one he was especially fond of. This
daylily polytepals 87% of the time, and is a dormant dip with 5 way
branching on a 30" scape. It makes an excellent polytepal parent.
